Every diet plan I've found talks about giving yourself a cheat day. A day to relax with your diet and pamper yourself a little. This all sounds well and good, but for some people one day leads to 2. Two days lead to four, and so on and so forth. I am one of those people :-)
About 2 months ago, I began loosening up a bit on my new healthy lifestyle. (I don't like to use the word "diet", because that's really not what this is. It's a new lifestyle. A way of obtaining an overall healthier body. It is not one of those count your calories and become a slave of the food scale deprivation diets!!!) I began to allow myself days with dairy or eggs or white sugar!!! At first it seemed harmless. A little cheese here, a little chocolate bar there, and so on and so forth. Before I knew it, my one cheat day every other week, had turned into an every other day event!!!!
Over the last month or so, I noticed a change in my health and my sense of well-being. I began feeling fatigued and fluish. I kept thinking I was getting sick, but then I would wake up feeling better the next day. Then a few days later, I would be back to feeling fatigued and fluish again. This went on for several weeks! I just couldn't understand it! What in the world was making me feel sooooooo yucky!!! Then, it finally dawned on me. All those little cheats added up! They may have seemed insignificant at the time, but after weeks of little cheats, my body was speaking to me.
Immediately, I got myself back on track. No more sugar, no more eggs, no more dairy of any kind!!! And you know what???? I feel sooooooo much better!! It really made me stop and think about all the years I had been eating soooo poorly and how it must have affected my body without me even realizing it. I am sooooo thankful for all the wonderful books I've read and all the amazing videos I've watched that have taught me the right way to eat and live a long and strong life :-)
For me, Not to Cheat is the answer!
