Indian sugar prices declined this week june 2011, India agriculture commodities - MUMBAI (Commodity Online): India Sugar declined this week on the back of weak domestic demand and on higher production estimates.

At NCDEX Sugar M grade June contract is currently trading at Rs.2455 per 10 MT, lower by 0.45 per cent against the previous close. In the morning session the contract traded at a range of 2449-2475 per 10 MT. Open interest of the contract is 16500 lots as of now.

Analysts said the fall in sugar futures prices was due to weak demand from bulk consumers amid expectations of higher production in the country.

indian cotton export news june 10 2011, india agriculture commodities - Cotton export enhancement shocks Indian spinning sector: LUBBOCK (Commodity Online) : Cotton export enhancement by one million bales this season has shocked the Indian cotton spinning sector.

Coimbatore-based The Southern India Mills’ Association in a statement today, June 9th has expressed dissatisfaction with the recent Indian government’s decision to cap the cotton export this season at 6.5 million bales of 170 kg each instead of 5.5 million bales.

Government of India on June 8th decided to increase this year’s cotton export by one million bales (170 kg each).

J Thulasidharan, Chairman of SIMA has stated that the government has earlier assured to maintain a closing balance of 5 million bales. With the enhanced export limit, the closing stock this year will come down to 1.75 million bales.

In a statement, SIMA Chief has criticized India’s Agriculture Ministry for over estimating this year’s crop to be 33.9 million bales. SIMA is backing an estimate of 31 million bales, which is less than the Agriculture Ministry’s estimate.

The workshop has been organised by the International Cocoa Organisation, ICCO, with funding from the Standards and Trade Development Facility, STDF to build the capacities of African cocoa producing countries to mitigate the harmful effects of pesticide residues in cocoa and to maintain market access.

The Managing Director of the National Cocoa and Coffee Board, NCCB, Michael Ndoping, during his welcome address indicated that the workshop is very important for Cameroon because about 98 percent of the country’s cocoa is shipped to Europe.

The name is thought to derive ultimately from the Sanskrit word for orange, with its final form developing after passing through numerous intermediate languages.

indian crude palm oil news june 10 2011, india agriculture commodities prices - Crude palm oil futures fall on global cues: New Delhi Crude palm oil prices fell by Rs 2 to Rs 515.50 per 10 kg in futures trade on Friday as speculators offloaded their positions, triggered by a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude palm oil for delivery in July declined by Rs 2, or 0.39 per cent, to Rs 515.50 per 10 kg, with a business turnover of 12 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June contract shed Rs 1.80, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 514.90 per 10 kg, with a business turnover of three lots.

Meanwhile, palm oil for August delivery fell by 0.7 per cent to USD 1,082 a tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.

Traders said fresh selling by speculators amid a weakening global trend mainly led to the fall in crude palm oil prices in the futures trade.
